Sorry I got distracted today dealing with some loose cannon over on my network who had enough gumption to call me names like we were in 3rd grade or something...anywho...it provided me with some much need entertainment and laughs for a few hours hahahaha! | So much fun if it's the right day. lol
| Quote: | | What advice would you give to a newbie scrapbooker in regards to doing simple but nice scrapbook layouts? | Well I have a post up about Keeping it Simple. But honestly just forget the magazines. Keep to the fact that you want those pictures in albums so everyone can see them. You want your story on the pages for everyone to read. This is the reason we scrapbook beyond all else.
You can do a ton with just cardstock. You can cut-out fancy shapes, you can do borders, you can even do the much more difficult paper piecing projects and it's all with cardstock.
| Quote: | | Should every page have a journaling block and/or title? | Journalling of some sort ABSOLUTELY! I can be hidden though. I did my Dad's Vietnam album and I did a lot of hidden journalling. He had written stuff on the back of pictures that was either not for polite company or was difficult to read for emotional reasons. I put those in tags and have them as slide outs behind pictures. Most of it did not need to be read by the majority of people that would look at his album.
I don't believe that every page needs a title. _________________ Val

I have some single pages that became ONLY journalling. There is nothing wrong with that. When my kids get old they will love reading it. They will smile remembering what a dork their Momma was!
| Quote: | | Can you tell us what you were like in High School? Like the 11th and 12th grade years? Where you involved in sports, clubs etc? |
Easy...JOCK!!! I was friends with everyone. I grew up in a not so good area of a very nice little town. I was best friends with millionaires (still am) and kids on welfare and food stamps. I am blessed to have this upbringing because to this day I can get along with anyone at anytime.
It's also brought me a lot of compassion for teenagers as there are a lot of low income kids in our area.
My husband's best friend told me I was a *itch in high school. I was friends with and knew so many people that I couldn't possibly say hi to everyone every time I saw them in the halls. So I guess it made me look stuck up. WHATEVER I told him. So I know that sounded a little like bragging, but it isn't bragging, I just get along so easily with people. lol
That said...you did not piss me off in high school. Way back to Jr. high actually. I can't even count how many lockers I dented when i was pissed and punched them. You didn't cross my friends and you darn well didn't do anything bad to my friends. I only got in one fight and it was when someone attacked my best friend. But why would anyone ever pick a fight with someone that was such a jock? lol WOW, you guys are getting way TMI tonight!
BTW, I wouldn't go back to high school for less than a billion dollars. I don't understand people when they say those were the best years ever. UGH, WHAT? _________________ Val

LOL
Your high school years sound alot like mine except I spent alot of time in the principles office or on suspension. I was a wild child. My mom got to the point she avoided phone calls from the school because she knew it always involved me (ie. smoking, fighting, skipping school etc). I can remember one year a gal on the cheerleading squad purposely dropped me during a stunt we were performing and let me tell you what...she learnt the hard way after that to not mess with me again.
Okay..enough about me, this is about you.

Oh I was never in trouble. EVER, I could honestly do no wrong. I barely went to class my sophomore year. It was a bad year.
I got A's and B's with no work. Not that I didn't do the work, it was just too easy for me. I even taught the remedial Math class a few times a week for the class I TA'd for. lol
But never in trouble. I was always grounded by my parents, they didn't let me do anything. My Mom said the best thing she ever could have a few years ago, "We were so lucky how easy you were." YEAH, no kidding! I was always the one in trouble and grounded at home, but yet my little brother was the one brought home by the cops with a M.I.P. Go figure! It's not easy being the oldest. lol _________________ Val

San Diego for going somewhere away. But I haven't been very many places. So I tend to love it no matter where I'm at.
We love to go to this little town Leavenworth in Eastern Washington. It's a bavarian theme and everyone dresses up in costume and such. There is absolutely nothing to do but relax and shop! _________________ Val

I collect fairies. But not cheesy goofy one's. I'm picky. I don't really care for people buying them for me because of this. My aunt however started buying me a limited edition line that i really like. I have the fairy line from partylite and that actually started the whole collection. I have the line in my masterbath and I just love lighting them up at nite. _________________ Val

awww Val, I bet they are pretty! I thought about a fairy tattoo once but then decided that would be "too" pretty for me LOL
How do you keep track of important dates and schedules? Do you use a wall calendar, desk calender, agenda date book, online calendar or ???
Yeah...I am a nosey little girl. _________________ Shelly

I am going to get a fairy tattoo behind the daisies and ladybug I have on my hip. But I want it to be a really good one, like a picture of one of the Froud fairies. So I have to find an artist that is highly recommended here locally. I'd love to go down to LA Ink and have one of them do it. Tempted to put in and have them do my back piece. I can stay with my Aunt if they let me on the show.
We have a family wall calendar, but I have a planner. I have to use it for my training biz. Everyone knows if you don't see me write it in the planner then it's not going to happen. lol I will not remember. _________________ Val

I quite agree! It's been fun learning new stuff about you Val! TMI? For me no - actually I knew, or guessed some of the answers! (May have a bit of an advantage though )
After these last couple days Val - you may be able to take the weekend off from posting! LOL! Have to admit, until caught up on the thread I though You had put an income ticker up! ROFLMAO! Congrats anyway - you sure as heck will reach your goal if Shelly has anything to say about it! _________________ Lauren

EVIL D*ICK Even though it's his name I know it will set off the sensors. lol It's a toss up though. Cause Dr. Will and Boogie were my favs first and they were on there twice. So they kind of will always be my favs. _________________ Val

Nope, no time for resting. I have to hit 25 posts a day to get to the goal. Shelly is gonna help make it happen for sure! Lots of new biz posts will be made soon as well. I've just been really busy working on my new VA clients projects the last two days.
I still have 5 more posts to hit todays goal. 25 is a lot some days. I want to bank up some more in case I can't get on here much this weekend. _________________ Val

Dual Purposes: #1 it helps Val meet her posting goal #2. It helps my posting numbers LOL and #3. It helps us get to know Val more in depth.
I will post another Q just incase I don't get back here this afternoon.
Val...how often do you clean out your closets? Do you do it whenever or is it seasonal like during "spring cleaning" time? Are you a neat freak or a clutter bug? _________________ Shelly

So Val....when you get up and go out to do your errands and what not, how long does it take for you to get ready? |
Sorry you had a bad day. I hope everything has been much better for you today. BTW everyone can ask questions. Don't think Shelly is the only one that gets to. Hit me with em. I'll work hard at keeping it clean But otherwise I'm always an open book.
Oh, almost forgot to answer the question. 15 min. max. I have got to get my hair cut off. It grows over 2 inches a month and it's just hanging there. But I don't really want to go back to the 30-45 min. routine again either. Isn't there a happy medium? I have super straight hair, so if I want to style it, it will take a while. Tired of ponytails, but they sure are nice and quick. _________________ Val

Clean closets whenever I can't see the bottom of them. My clothes closet probably a few times a year, other closets once a year if that.
I'm not even a clutter bug. I'm a horrible housecleaner. I HATE to do it. I don't even feel good about it when it's done. No sense of accomplishment and the look back and how good it looks. I just hate it. I've gotten rid of almost all the clutter, what you can with kids that is .
When I do clean I look at items and ask myself if I want to move them. If the answer is no they go into the goodwill pile. If it's not worth moving it to a new house then I don't need it. _________________ Val
