UGH! I can't believe I'm finally logged onto the boards!! Now just pray when I leave here I can get back in!

I bet it's been a couple of weeks now since I've been here and I've been going through some serious, serious withdrawl!!

As it stands right now, I'm guessing my problems have stemmed from IE7. I knew I was procrastinating downloading it for some reason! Grrr!!

I've tried just about everything you can imagine to get in here. Deleted all my cookies, changed all my security settings, deleted my history, yadda, yadda, yadda.

I even tried changing my password and heck, even tried re-joining. All to NO AVAIL!

Someone on another forum suggested that maybe it was IE7 and suggested that I download Firefox again. I'm not a fan of Fire Fox at all but I was willing to do just about ANYTHING.

I downloaded it, rebooted my computer and was just about to have a nervous breakdown because it still wouldn't let me in Crying or Very sad

Then to make matters worse, as some of you know, I was on vacation last week. I hadn't made any "real plans" for while I was on vacation because we were only going to my inlaws for the week. Their "bay house" in Maryland. They have high speed internet there and figured I'd be able to keep up with my email and the boards - just little things - no major work.

Well, those plans got shot down because they were having internet problems and I was stuck in dial-up land - YUCK! Not to mention, it was a horrible, horrible connection so it wasn't just dial-up - it was super, super slow dial-up!!

So anyway - I'm here finally and of course it's after 1:00 in the morning and I so need to get to bed, lol! Now I just have to PRAY that when I try to get back in here tomorrow I'll be able to! I have a LOT of catching up to do!!

Special thanks to Val & Lauren for keeping things going for me in my absence and of course thanks to all of my other mods too!!

See you all tomorrow - HOPEFULLY!!

Take care,
Anita Razz

Anita!

Of course I haven't missed you as much because of email, but I am so glad you were finally able to get back on! And, fingers are crossed that the problem is solved.

Another thought - though this would cancel out your re-downloading FireFox (which I am now in love with by the way Wink ) - what about going and doing a system restore? You know when you restore the settings on your computer back to an earlier time, before you started having problems logging in here.

I have yet to go back to IE7 - tried it, hated it, using IE6 (only when I have to). Hope your log in problems are all gone!

I know I had to take off my norton completely to get to use anything on my computer when the last IE and FF came out. Norton wouldn't recognize anything which is stupid and a waste of my time.

Just an FYI Anita. When I went to look up your IP address to make sure it wasn't banned on accident. Your last post was June 24th. Laughing I know that doesn't make you feel better, but I thought it was pretty funny how long you really had been off of here!

Anita,
Sorry for all the problems you have been having. Are you able to get logged in today? Hope it's all worked out now. I'm loving Firefox and don't use IE unless I have to check to see how websites look, etc.

Welcome home Smile

She can't get back on. Sad She's going to go bald here any minute if she can't get in here. Poor girl!

I too never use IE unless I have to. Hate it and it just brings hackers into my computer since it's so common.

Nope, definitely not really back Mad

I'm really not sure what else to do either. As far as I know it has to do something between my IP (or internet service) and my host.

I can't log in at home on any one of my three computers at home. However, I can log in at my inlaws beach house (where we are right now) without any problems at all. Ugh - I am beyond frustrated now.

I contacted Host Gator because someone had suggested for whatever reason that maybe my IP address is being blocked or blacklisted by my host. The customer service rep said that no, it couldn't be that or I wouldn't be able to view the boards at all. That itself was a relief - somewhat - at least if I knew it was that, I look into doing whatever needed to reverse that. At this point, I have no idea.

The Host Gator rep said he would look into it and had asked for my username and password - which was great. However, I'm beginning to get worried because that was on Wednesday. Today (Sunday) I haven't heard anything back yet. Sad They're usually very quick with whatever they're doing. The longer it takes - the more worried I get. Ugh - Ugh - Ugh!!

Of course while we were here at my inlaws - I haven't had much time at all to get online. And now I'm running out of time. We're getting ready to leave.

Sooo, I haven't gotten around to many posts here and I apologize for that. Hopefully by the grace of God this will be worked out SOON! Then I'll focus on getting more caught up.

By the way - if you try to reach me, please email me at mommyshelperonline @ yahoo.com

Thanks!

Take care,
Anita Razz

Welcome back, Anita! Something similiar happened to me a long time ago over at wahm.com and it turned out to be a browser / cookie issue with Internet Explorer.

For the longest time, I tried to log in and it appeared that it was logging me in, but I really wasn't, yet it worked in Firefox without a problem.

Is it just the forum you can't log in to or the internet access?

Well, I'm not really back - ugh!

It's been a big, ugly mess and I so wish I could find a solution Sad

It's not a cookie issue because it's happening with three different of my computers in my home. But, if I take my laptop somewhere else and hook up on someone else's internet (as I'm doing right now) I have no problems. I had asked HG if it was something between my IPS/IP address and hosting because I'm thinking it HAS to be. I mean it only happens in my home and these boards only. What else are my options?

This was the mumbo jumbo reply I got:

Quote:
Any kind of blocks on the server would deny you access to everything completely. I double checked everything that it could be:

[root@gator188 /home/mommmys]# route -n | grep 66.82.9.99

[root@gator188 /home/mommmys]# iptables -L -n | grep 66.82.9.99

[root@gator188 /home/mommmys]# grep 66.82.9.99 /var/log/messages

[root@gator188 /home/mommmys]#

As well as did a search through your database to see if your IP address was listed. I also did a search through your files to see if there would be anything even mentioning your IP address and all I could find was this:

[root@gator188 /home/mommmys]# grep 66.82.9.99 -R *

tmp/awstats/awstats062008.mommyshelpercommunity.com.txt:66.82.9.99 134 1135 10738297 20080611215708

Binary file tmp/webalizer/dns_cache.db matches

Also, I was able to do a traceroute to your IP address without any issue. I then repeated those searches looking to see if the a block of IP addresses matching 66. were blocked and was unable to find anything as well that way. From what I can tell, there should be no reason, server-wise, why you would be blocked. Do you have any content filtering software installed, or perhaps any firewalls?

Sorry - I guess I shouldn't have called it mumbo jumbo but that's basically what it is to me. I guess though - bottom line here is, it shouldn't be anything to do with my host. Ack!!!

By the way if any of this above makes any sense to anyone here - PLEASE help explain in layman's terms. I have NO KNOWLEDGE about this stuff.

One thing I've done is contact the gentleman who does the upgrades of these boards. I doubt this will solve my problems but I figure I was planning on doing it already so might as well give it a try.

I'm almost frightened here. What am I going to do if I can't get this resolved? I can't possibly go to someone else's home every time I need to get on the boards here. It's not like I'm that close to anywhere ... UGH!

Anyway - that's my newest update. No news is NOT good news in this case. Sad

Take care,
Anita Razz
