Okay so my business is generally more focused on enrolling customers and getting them to set up their own shopping accounts, rather than selling product like with Avon or whatever. But more and more I'm hearing from people that they'd like to try some of the products first, and they're not interested in enrolling on a trial basis. They just want to BUY the stuff. So I'm thinking about having a party every couple of months where people can just come and place a product order. All at once. And then either have their orders drop-shipped, or have a set pick-up day where they all have to come and get their stuff. With a toddler and two businesses on the go, I really don't have the time (or the gas money for that matter) to run around and deliver product all over the place.
So what I'm wondering is, would that approach work? Obviously I can't afford to bring in a bunch of product to resell. But catalog sales at a party is fine, right? I would have samples there of most of the products, because I use them myself.
Then this brings me to the question of whether I should let my online pals in on the ordering too... _________________ At-Home Moms:

Kaaryn,
I think that's a great solution to a problem you're having. I don't think it'll hurt to do one or two to start with. It'll also help get your biz out there But by doing one or two to begin with, you'll get a good idea of how well it's going to go over. I highly recommend at least having samples on hand. And then hopefully, if everything goes really well, you'll be able to start having actual products on hand to sell. In the meantime, catalog sales will be fine.
As far as the online sales goes ... I don't know exactly how your biz works so I'm not sure I can answer that.
Please keep us updated on this ... this could be a really great way to really publicize your business and all. Done right, this could be very huge for you!
Take care,
Anita _________________

Kaaryn-
I used to work with an organization that had a similar sales structure as yours. I too used a lot of the products and used catalogs to generate sales. It was another stream of income. And customers often make the best recruits, they some to llike the product and then you sell them on the business plan. _________________ Lauren
