why some companies call their program an affiliate program when in fact they charge a fee to join. Would it then not be a true affiliate program but rather a rep/consultant program?
I have found a few affiliate programs I would like to promote but my interest is not in becoming a rep/consultant but a true affiliate where it's free to join, no monthly minimums (unless it's to get paid, you know like you have to reach $10 to get paid your commissions?), the company takes care of shipping the product and they take care of any customer service issues. I guess I just don't get it
Any comments?
Maybe I'm totally out of the loop on what exactly an affiliate program is |

I don't think you're out of the loop... that's always been my impressive of an affiliate too.
It is discouraging to find some that try to take advantage by charging you to sell their product. I say, keep on looking! You're bound to find a few that are a perfect fit for you!

You are completely right Angie. Some companies are using the affiliate idea to try and get more to sign up I guess. But they aren't affiliate networking. They are consultants like you said.
I think it shows the ignorance of the company. So not someone I'd like to do biz with anyway. Not if they can't do a little research themselves. _________________ Val

Very well said.
And how frustrating Angie. I certainly would keep looking myself.
Take care,
