I'm getting ready to put together my first newsletter whoo hoo! I have been delayed a few days because I could not get the newsletter templates in Aweber to load for me but after talking to them and finding out it was definitely something with my computer, hubby is a gem and figured out the problem tonight so now I am ready to get down to business.

I have an article that I personally wrote that I will add but what else do I need? I'm looking for anything and everything you can recommend.

Of course, I will have the name/title, the date (June 2007) and my contact info. Hubby mentioned something about having an issue number....what is the best way to go about that. Just Issue #1, Issue #2, and so on?

I am a bit overwhelmed and nervous for my first newsletter so I wanted to ask for some input.

By the way, this is for my www.losingitandlovingit.com website. I haven't promoted my newsletter sign up yet so I need to get working on that of course.

Another question I have is how do I archive newsletters and put them on my website?

Thanks in advance for your help Smile

Don't be nervous, you can't go wrong. It's YOUR newsletter. Laughing

Having the one article is enough to start. Then write a section that is kind of like a personal welcome to the newsletter from yourself. If you have any products you want to talk about, do that.

I'm not sure what template you are using. But if there are some small sections in the navigation, then maybe fill them with special dates in the month of June. You can do a recipe, favorite exercise of the month. So much you can do with it. But don't worry about it too much. Each month you can add more.

Most of mine I just use the month and year to keep track of it. My scrapfacts ezine has volume and issue or something like that. lol So volume is 2 because it's the second year and then whatever version it is for the month.

I'll go sign up for your newsletter and happily help you with it. We can cross promote our two newsletters. Wink

Val's right ... don't be nervous at all! No reason to be Wink And besides, the first couple of issues are most likely going to be friends and we won't make fun, I promise (lol, sorry, couldn't resist!)

Thanks for explaining that Val! I never knew how that worked! Embarassed

Angie, Val made some great suggestions! Another idea might be to do a recommended resource. How often will you be sending this out?

As far as the archives go ... Boy, this is awful but does Aweber have a public archive? I've not looked into that yet! Yikes, I'm a little behind on that one.

I don't think they do though. I'll have to look into it. If they don't, then maybe just put up a plain text version on your website? Because even if I'm not doing what I'm preaching ... an archive is important.

Hey, why don't you post an example of what you have so far and what you're doing here ... then we can have a visual to help you though Wink You don't need to post the article if you don't want to. You can just put something like "article goes here" or something along those lines.

Take care,
Anita Razz

Getting ready to head out but I will post everything over the weekend to get your input. Thank you sooo much already for your help. Lots of great tips so far and thanks Val, for the explanation of the volume/issue thingy....now I kinda get it Razz

Anita, I'll have to check with Aweber about the archive thing. I did a search but didn't come up with anything yet.

See ya'll later Smile

Ok, let's see...so far I have something like this

Ezine/Newsletter name/title
Date (probably Issue June 2007)
Contact info (will be at the very end per Aweber's set up)

Personal welcome section (I was thinking Notes from Angie or Angie's Corner)

Recipe

Article

Product review/promotion

Encouragement Corner (motivational saying)

Exercise/Fitness tip

I have a lot of other sections I could potentially add to this newsletter but I don't want to overdo it and put too much in the newsletter. Do people expect to see the same sections over and over?

Gosh why is this so dang hard to just come up and get it together. Kev will help me this weekend but I wanted to have some sort of organization to it before I showed him Wink

A recommended resource is on my list. Great idea!

I'm thinking of sending a newsletter out once or twice a month and I'll have the autoresponder for other things a few times a month. That will be another topic LOL

Perfect, go with that and add more later as you get more info. They don't have to be 4 page ezines to start out with. Wink

We have accomplished a ton today. I'll explain below but I also wanted to say that Kev is working on my very own personalized newsletter template that I can use with Aweber by just entering the html code into their template section. I'm so excited!

Oh and yes, Anita we found the info on archiving newsletters. I'm pretty sure this link will take you to the explanation.

Anyway, this is what I have accomplished so far for my June 2007 newsletter which I hope to be able to send out this week:

Personal Welcome DONE

Article DONE

In the Kitchen (recipes, etc) DONE

Exercise Fitness Tip DONE

Product Review/Promotion

Encouragement Corner DONE

Disclaimer DONE

I still have to add some other side things but it's coming along without a template for now.

Now I'm off to work on some type of subscriber ad announcement for my newsletter and hopefully I'll get some sign ups Wink

Well I signed up. Very Happy I think your site is great and it is much better to relate to than most weight loss sites because it is your story, and a work in progress. Very inspirational. Congratulations.

Ann,
Thank you so much for signing up and for your kind comments about my site.

If you don't mind, I would really like for you to post honest feedback here when you get the newsletter if you don't mind. It should go out sometime this week if hubby can get the template done. If not, I guess another weekend would be ok but I don't want to push it too far in June.

Thanks again Smile

Oh it's just me again Razz

Totally frustrated with this template thing, can't get one to work where we change the colors. It looks great when we change the colors on my site within XSitePro but then we take that html code and plug it into Aweber and ONE of the colors doesn't come up BUT Aweber shows the color option on their site.

Hubby wanted to keep trying but I'm about to pull my hair out so I said no way Rolling Eyes

Not sure what I'll do but I think my first newsletter is just going to be with one of Aweber's template options and then I can change it next month if I want to. I'm pooped so I'm going to bed and not too sure I'll work on this at all tomorrow. I just want to cry Crying or Very sad

I'll check in soon.

Aww Angie!! Sorry you were having such a hard time. Sometimes all you need is to just walk away from it for a while. Then when you come back it'll just jump right out at ya!

Newsletter is coming along. I have changed it around a bit though.

The only thing I am stuck with at this point is I'm using one of Aweber's templates and I have to figure out how to resize it because I just sent a test copy to myself and it's way too long height wise and I would rather see it more left to right, if that makes any sense. I also think my articles are too long and would like to do something similar to where you put partial article and then have a link to view the remainder of it online via my website but I really don't know what I'm doing.

I really wanted to send this out by tomorrow night, that was the goal but I'm not so sure it will happen. Kev said he's going to help me tomorrow so we'll see if we can manage to get it completed.

Well I can't help you with the resizing stuff. But the linking your articles is easy peesy. Simply use the first paragraph of the article or a synopsis of the article. Then put the full article on you blog/site. After the paragraph in your newsletter just type something like "to read more of this article" and use it as the link to the article on your site. Wink

Good on you, Val. That is exactly what I did and it is how my blog came about. I found that no one would read the newsletters that had a lot of writing on it, so a link to the article was the best thing to do. Lots of images worked best for me, and showed the product off too.

Good luck Angie.

Thanks Val! The only other question I have about that is how do I make it go right to the part of the article that it ended on in the newsletter? Does that make sense?

Thanks for your help!

Tired of me yet Question Twisted Evil

I think I'm taking a break from this newsletter thing. I am having major issues with using Aweber for this and hubby and I are trying to figure out a different approach.

Let me ask you, for my first newsletter would it be so bad if I just sent out a plain text message (or even a partial html with my logo) to announce that the newsletter is ready and my subscribers can view it online and give a link to the page on my website?

I need time to figure out how to really use Aweber and for now I can get the newsletter onto a page on my website with minimal hassle.

It wouldn't be like this forever unless of course it turned out to work well Wink .

Just trying to consider my options so I can at least get this 1st newsletter out!

I think that is fine. Contact with your customers in any postive way is great. Lots of people just send the link to their newsletters. I say go for it, and that will leave you time to work on aweber. Very Happy

Opportunities these days are looking for investments at any level. A simple loan can be taken to finance the money for the investment. One of the better options out there is stock trading, the margins are high and the business is successful. Another one is real estate investment, for which one can get a mortgage refinance services to get a lower interest rate loan. Other small opportunities are providing insurances like cheap car insurance or supplying services in the finance sector like merchant credit services.
