I am a big spender on books (personal development, business, weight loss/fitness, pets, etc.). I wanted to see if, for the next 4 months I could just find all the books I want to purchase at the library. I went this past Sat. to renew my library card (don't even recall the last time I stepped foot into one Embarassed ). So we shall see how it works (ebooks don't count LOL). There is one book I really want but haven't been able to find there yet (I think the title is The 4 Minute Work Week). So if they don't have that one when I take the books I just got back, I will probably buy it but other than that, I am going to try to get all books from the library.

Next thing I have to work on is my magazine addiction Razz I saw the June post from Nicole regarding Ebates so I'll have to check them out.

That's one tip I started putting into use almost a year ago. I had started back into reading more (with little ones around ... I forgot how much I really enjoyed it!) Well, I began to read the books so quickly that I started finding myself buying a new book almost weekly! I decided it was time to also dust off that library card and use the library for something other than my children rofl!

Later!

We have two libraries near us... one right beside my office! Unfortunately, they don't carry very many current books, so you won't find the latest of anything... Crying or Very sad

Jillian is a HUGE reader and had a list of about 25 books that she wanted to read this summer. Out of the 25, our library only had one book.... So I've been buying a lot of them through amazon used...

They have a lot of older books, but just don't get in the new books. They hardly have any good books for teens. Like I wrote above, they are all the really old ones. They do carry Harry Potter, but not much else.

They have a lot of books that I haven't read, so it's fine for me, and they have a wonderful little kid library, but just not anything for teens....

I'm starting to notice a trend with that ... there is too many libraries that don't carry new books? Hello?!? Sometimes I wonder if the internet isn't taking over too much? Know what I mean?

I'm like you though, Bev. There's a lot of books there that I haven't read so there's not really much worry of me running out of things to read. However, a few times now I have found a book that I really enjoyed, found out it was a series and went back for the others ... only to find out they didn't have them. Now that is frustrating. As a matter of fact, I just bought a book from Amazon myself for that very reason. The cool part though is I do save money that way. The book is so super-cheap because I don't have to buy a new copy - I'm only going to read it once so what's the need? BUT, till you pay the shipping and handling, I might as well went to Walmart after all?

There is one good thing about our library though - well, good and bad - all the local libraries (and a couple not-so-local) have a system set up that you can look it up on the computer and see if one of the other libraries have it and whether or not it's available. You can then "order it" from one of the other libraries. The downside of this though is it can take as long as a couple of weeks or a month to get the dang thing in Sad

Hmmm... maybe now I remember why we just started going to the bookstores??

Later!

I know there are some online book exchanges where you get credit for the books you swap- why not do it here? You can list the books you want to get rid of and send it to the person who wants it. Then request a new one- media shipping is pretty reasonable and as long as you give and take, it comes out even!

I will await an okay to start posting the books! Smile I don't have many business books, but there are some. And they hardly sell on ebay anyway!

One of the better options out there is stock trading, the margins are high and the business is successful. Another one is real estate investment, for which one can get a mortgage refinance services to get a lower interest rate loan.
