|

Hey ladies I almost have my online training center completed. I have some questions if you don't mind. From all the suggestions, I will hold a random drawing for a free 3 month membership!
A major section is the payment of course. What would you pay for online training? Please give me a random idea. Such as $10-$20, etc. I will have two memberships, one super basic and one that has the works. Nutrition, workouts, private forums, etc.
What is your must have in an online training program.
I'll give you some of mine. SUPPORT! I'm a member of one right now and I don't get a single email from them. That is not supportive at all. I forget to log in and see what is on there. So an active owner is a must for me.
Then I also need nutrition, I want logs for fitness and nutrition. I also know that most of my offline clients need food plans, so that will be an option.
Anything you can think of will be appreciated. I'm hoping to get it finished this weekend while watching football. Thank YOU!!! _________________ Val

Awesome! I had often thought about you offering this More like wondering why you hadn't done it yet, lol!
Anyway, I'll have to put a little more thought into it but ...
Is this something that is going to be monthly, weekly? I'm thinking maybe a weekly or monthly chat. Something where all members can attend and discuss their progress, issues, etc. with fellow members. You could also instead of or in addition to, set up a yahoo group for members to keep in touch with not only you but also fellow members. Again, to help hold each other accountable.
But then again, this could be something you've already thought about, just thought I'd throw it out to you.
I wish you tons of success with this! You're an awesome coach!
Take care,

I will actually have private message boards. So they can chat on the regular boards and have private one's set up for just the two of us to discuss things. I just get so bombarded by my yahoo groups, I can't keep up with them. While it's a good thought, I just don't know if I could go that route.
Monthly chats would be a great idea. Can do them private for just members and maybe some open one's here and there. Since we can now set chat rooms at Mom Chat's to be password protected for team meetings and such!
The basis is it will be a whole interactive community. So the workouts will be there, nutrition plans and grocery lists, recipes, graphics to show correct exercise performance and tracking of your daily goals.
Price points get very tricky with this. It's a lot of work and the software isn't cheap. But I was not happy with the price tag I paid for other memberships. The value wasn't there.
So maybe it will be a lower introductory price for a month or two and then jump up down the road as it gets bigger. I'll have to play with the numbers.
That is what I have going so far. I just want to make sure I'm not missing some obvious need by knit-picking the small stuff.
Thanks for your encouragement Anita! _________________ Val

For me, it would have to be inexpensive... like maybe $10 a month... and support would definitely be the number one priority!
I would want recipes and tips and ideas on eating healthy. Ideas on how to stay on track. Contest seem to be good motivators as well. And exercise tips and ideas too.
I'm the leader of our TOPS group and nothing motivates those ladies as much as a contest with money involved! lol! If I offer a cash prize, they seem to work harder...
I think it's a great idea! Good luck with it!

Hi. I am new here and I maybe a little late on your post but here goes! Hypothetically...
1. Cost would have to be cheap for me as well. Simply for the fact that I could join a gym for $20-30 a month and have access to a personal trainer...
2. What I would want to see from the site are tips, techniques, support, the ability to ask questions, exercises, results tracking, things like that.
3. Follow up
4. Motivational corner
5. Results page (Talking about people you have trained and that have been successful)
Wow, I expect a lot! Lol. |

Thanks for your reply. That's what I like to see, lots of opinion.
What gym is in your area that you get training with your $20-$30 a month? I left a corporate gym that I trained the members for free once a month, but never regular training on a weekly basis. That gym is worth every penny and you MUST join!
Or do you mean just access as you could talk to them, cause that is a completely different story and something that I need to address on the subscription page. So thank you for throwing that in, it will be very helpful in a "why" online training kind of FAQ section. I run into many that have no idea what a personal trainer is or does for them. We don't either until we meet you and find out your needs.
I love brainstorming sessions! _________________ Val

I meant you can have access to them. How many times you can access them before paying depends on the gym. That is something very worthwhile to mention on your site! Also (still brainstorming here) exercise that can be done at home would be a good one. Are you going to be promoting lifestyle change (Healthy eating, water intake, exercise, and so on) or just weight loss? I am guessing the first. I think it is a fantastic idea! _________________ "What's in your Brown Bag?"

Yep, and they will have access to me daily with their subscription. But alas with the basic plan I will have to limit that access, not sure what that will be, putting that on my list. There is no way it can be unlimited for something like $9.95 a month.
The basic membership is to have a few workouts they can grab. Gym and home choices. Full memberships will include a monthly workout tailored to their needs specifically, so gym or home, and key areas they want to work on, goals, etc. Just as if I met with them at the gym and wrote them up a program.
I am all about weight loss being a by product of healthy lifestyle.
It dawned on me that my website may not be in my siggy line right now so you have no idea where I am coming from. I am so sorry about that! My baby is Busy Momma Wellness where you can find tips, recipes, and a ton more about a healthy lifestyle. _________________ Val

Very nice site! Now I am caught up! I like the idea. I agree with the basic and "premium" memberships. To have full access I would charge more money and that should not be a problem for people. Maybe with the basic they could have access to you once a month or every other month? You could run a special too, perhaps "premium" membership 10 day trial too. So users could see the difference? I am still brainstorming here. I like helping others, and it is always fun to give an opinion! Everyone has one! Heehee! If anything else pops into my head, I will let you know! _________________ "What's in your Brown Bag?"

sounds great!
I for one have always tried diet after diet.. Never really satisfied from one to another.
I did lots of diet sites (Free ones, because i never had the support that i wanted.. or? needed?)
But the one big fault i found with them is not keeping interest. You can go to any site and be amp'd up on your visit, but unless your thinking about it often, you can lose track of it and then a week later be scratching your head to what site you visited.
I was recently on a site that had weekly newsletters, which is great (But, i can't remember the site name anymore, and once you are inactive for a week you get booted from the mailing list!!!)
I think it would be a good thing to offer daily emails if possible? Also, you could incorporate affiliates, and send out a random email to a site to click (It will earn you $/click, and also keep your clients interested) Which will allow you to have more mailings a day.
Why not set up a point based system? If a member sets a goal and then completes that goal they get x amount of points.. If they complete the goal way ahead of time, they get a bonus allotment of points. If they read the daily email they get a point (Or some amount of points) and then have either 'prizes' that they can cash their points in for, or allow them to cash their points in for dollars off their monthly membership.. IE: 400 points = 1.00 so i have 400 points and cash it in, the next month instead of paying 10.00 i pay 9.00 (That month only)
Or some other type of 'competitive' addition. If i have something to earn or be competitive over, i will do what i can just because its fun to do, and its entertaining.
I hope this helps!! |

After only a week? Wow! A little harsh don't ya think? God forbid you get sick, have a family emergency or get a little too busy - yikes!

Val, I really like the point system idea You know as well as I do how difficult it is to keep membership members active and participate. Oh yeah and then those are the ones that come back and say it didn't work for me or I didn't get anything out of it

Yes, I like the point system. I'll have to figure out if i can put that in somehow.
I totally agree on the interaction. I joined biggest loser club to see what it was about and was seriously disappointed. There was no interaction and I honestly forgot to go in and use it myself. I expected to be hounded with emails and I wasn't. I never got a single email from them. Considering it was almost $60 for the 3 months, that was not what I was looking for. But, I did get the cookbook. lol I'm loving the cookbook.
I will have much interaction. Of course the amount of interaction directly with myself will depend on which package you purchase. But I will set it up so they have to join my newsletter list and that has health, fitness and nutrition tips that go out every week already. Then message boards and just direct emails when I look at logs and see how you are doing. My local clients are getting a little worried because I'm making them do it of course so I can view their food logs. _________________ Val

Haha ... good thinking Val And you know, maybe you could choose one or two of your local clients that you trust and that are really working hard and see if they'd be interested in trying out your online program for free? It'll give you a chance to get some feedback, testimonials are great and when you have "group interaction", you'll have a couple of clients that can interact too.
Just a thought ...

Oh my local clients will get their online accounts for free. They already pay me good money. This is so I can keep tabs on them 24/7 _________________ Val
