Note from Anita
Wow, for the past couple of days now, it's been super-HOT around here. We've hit some all-time highs forcing us to go swimming a little more (forcing?) I honestly have to say that I've been really enjoying my summer. I do hope that you're doing the same and taking a few extra hours (days) for some summer family fun!
Since it IS summer and we have been having a blast ... I've been slacking (just a bit!) online. I've been busy with MommysHelperOnline.com (and always will be) plus I've been working on a little side-project website. Oh and I almost forgot ... I've been busy planning an upcoming Direct Sales Convention I was invited to. Pat Noll of Heart Warming Creations ( http://www.PatsCountryCrafts.com ) has invited me as her guest and I'm really looking forward to it.
Till next week...

Note from Kara
This summer has been an absolute blur, and I'm begging to have things back to normal! The next few weeks will be extra challenging, as Chase has swimming lessons this week and next. After lessons it's a trip to the local amusement park followed by the Iowa State Fair. We've got a few craft shows scattered in between. School then starts the 22nd. HURRAY!
It's funny though, while I'm excited for school to start and have much more free time, I'm also sad I won't have little ones around all day. Chase will start kindergarden and Jillian starts her first year of preschool. So twice a week for three hours, the house will be COMPLETELY empty. The rest of the time, it will be just me and Jillian. Crazy to think about!
Projects are coming right along, and I'm so happy I got more organized. Even with only an hour or two to work, I can grab something off my to-do list and run with it. Everyday at least something gets done, which makes me happy!
See you in two weeks!

Dirty SEO Tricks to Avoid
Webmasters score high on search engine list using search engine optimisation. But sometimes one can get carried away and use some unfair means to achieve high rankings. You must avoid the following dirty SEO tricks if you want to steer clear of unnecessary blacklisting by the search engines.
Hidden Text
Invisible or hidden text involves creating web pages with keyword rich text, which is of the same color as the background. This text is not visible to the visitor but can be spotted easily by the search engine crawlers. This technique gives good results by giving high search engine ranking. However, this unethical practice once found by the search engine drops you off the search engine rankings completely.
Wrong submission
If you are under the impression that using automated software will get you very good results. You are wrong. This technique can at best result in spamming and can even get your web site banned by search engines. Many companies promise to submit to 500 or more search engines for a very low cost of $100 or less. Just remember that the total number of search engines itself is not so high. And out of the total only 8 - 10 are worth using. You must avoid such meaningless tricks and be content with submitting your web site once a month to the standard search engines like Google, Yahoo etc.
Doorway Pages
Doorway pages are like the traps that catch a search engine lure them through cleverly manipulated key word messages. They work, but are considered unethical because you are not giving any useful information to the visitor other than simply getting him there. You might get good initial traffic but beware that once search engines find that you are using doorway pages, your site can get banned.
Free for all Links
FFA links are a useful way to get listed on top of the search engines. However, don't link to all kinds of FFAs. Again, some FFA companies offer you huge number of links at a very low cost but watch out to which type of sites get linked to your site. Check the sites to which you are likely to get linked before you decide. Ask them for the list of the sites. If you do not take proper care before selecting an FFA, you might end up spending huge amounts with no results!

Hot Cars and Children - A Life and Death Situation
In the time it takes to purchase a gallon of milk or a pack of cigarettes, a hot car can turn into a death trap for a child. I live in Texas and the past two days we have been under a heat advisory. Yesterday an innocent three year old little girl lost her life is the result of being trapped in a car. The child was not left in the car, instead had wandered to the car and locked herself in. The unfortunate thing is this happens at least three times a year in the city I live in, alone.
You are probably thinking, what kind of parent would let that happen to a child? I personally have never done it. On the other hand, there are many parents out there in this generation that are very busy. They have so much going on and children easily get lost in the scatter. I don?t believe these parents do it on purpose; they just need to be reminded. They can suffer big consequences, such as involuntary manslaughter or child endangerment. Then the most obvious is could you really live with yourself if your child dies or is permanently brain damaged, for something that could have been prevented?
In the summer months, the temperature inside a parked car can reach above 120 degrees in as little as 10 minutes. Heat exhaustion can occur at temperatures above 90 degrees and heat stroke can occur when the temperature reaches above 105 degrees.
Here are some tips on keeping our children safe. If you see a child in an unattended car, immediately call 911. That call may be the difference between life and death. Check and make sure all children leave the vehicle when you get to your destination. Don?t leave any child behind. Make sure that unoccupied cars are locked, so that children do not become trapped inside.
Remember parents, our children depend on us to keep them safe. Watch out for other children left alone in cars as well as your own. Hot cars and children can become a life and death situation for a child.

Pets Are Not Like Kids
?Lisa Barker
When statistics site that a growing number of households in America are inhabited by single people without children or by childless couples, it?s easy to understand why the commercial world caters to pet owners.
But, God love them, as much as we baby our dogs and cats, caring for a pet is nothing like caring for a child. Let me tell you some of the reasons why.
Dogs and cats don?t roll their eyes when you tell them to do something. They don?t throw themselves on the floor and pitch a fit. They don?t lie and make you ask them forty questions before you get a straight answer.
They don?t smart mouth you. You never hear them sass back when they don?t get what they want. They don?t hold their breath when you refuse them a treat before dinner. And, dogs and cats don?t follow you around the house tattle-telling on the rest of the animals.
For that matter kids are nothing like pets.
As much as I?d like to, I can?t leave a bowl of food on the floor and feed them just once a day. Children never stop eating, they want variety and the dishes pile up. They?re never happy just drinking water.
You also have to bathe them often, sometimes three times a day depending on their age. And every time you let them outside to play they keep running back inside for more toys as if the ball and the thick rubber bone out back aren?t entertainment enough.
Usually, kids don?t have to be de-wormed and I?ve never had to flea-bomb my house because of them. My kids don?t shed, they don?t lick their tails and I don?t mind if they hug my leg.
You see, there are important differences. Dogs rarely make it to age sixteen, and cats get slower and more senile. When my kids turn sixteen, they?ll just be getting warmed up.
And at some point, my kids are going to think it?s stupid to wear a party hat for their birthday. Most dogs and some cats will never realize this.
But, to be fair, pets and children are sometimes very much alike.
Both can be put on a leash. Both sometimes love to howl when they hear a siren. Both will do almost anything for a treat. Both look adorable and forgivable when they are sleeping.
I think the reason animals are equated to children is because humans have the capacity to nurture and childless individuals and mothers of older children lavish their pets with attention because of this. But lets not confuse the species.
I can train my kids to salivate when I ring the dinner bell, but I?ll never have to form my pet?s moral conscience.
