Christmas Is Coming - Are You Ready?
by Kara Kelso and Anita DeFrank
No, your calendar isn't wrong. Yes, it's still August! Although if you haven't at least started thinking about Christmas promotion, you may be behind in the game.
No matter what religion you are or what December holiday you actually celebrate, there's no denying Christmas is the biggest shopping holiday there is. Unless of course, you own a candy heart company - then I bet Valentine's day beats it.
For the majority of us, the Christmas shopping season is when we make the most sales. Although it starts long before the actual holiday hits, and even before a lot even begin to think about it.
From past experience, do you know when the best months for Christmas shopping is online? October and early November.
When people think of online shopping, they also think of shipping times. Most will allow a week or two (sometimes more) to get what they really want from their online store. Because they know it will take time, Christmas orders are usually at their highest in late October and early November. So if you don't have your Christmas stuff out yet, you may be out of luck.
For those of you with your own websites (and you SHOULD have your own website), Christmas pages should already be up. Believe it or not, people are already looking. They are signing up to newsletters, and making bookmarks. Gathering ideas and making lists. If you don't have information already up for them, you aren't going to make the cut.
Bottom line - if you haven't even started to think of Christmas yet, get on the ball right now!
