This has been a work in progress. I have been working on this site for about a year and I am going to be revamping it. I would like some input. I am going to have my graphics redone and don't know which direction I want to go in. Could you ladies please give me some suggestions. Before you check it out there are some links that do not work. My husband and I are working on getting my forum running again. Ok, here it goes. My website is:

http://www.myworkfromhomeguide.com

Please be gentle Laughing

P.S. I still have tons of content to add. I find new things everyday and once I start revamping my site the new stuff will be added.

Thanks In Advance,

You can't have it both ways. lol No, I'm just kidding. We'll be constructive. But do not get offended by suggestions. I'm just warning you about that right now. It's hard to do when you've put so much work into it, but we want to help Wink

So first off I like your color scheme. Very clean and fresh.

Navigation is very confusing. If you look around at some popular sites you will see that they are mostly one or two word links. You only have seconds to grab users attention before they click away.

The opening paragraph is way too long. Internet users are super charged ADHD. Keep paragraphs down to 3 sentences max. Don't use your the english/writing that we learned growing up. lol All those rules are gone for the internet. Break it into quick to read sections.

Also the second section you have all those great resources. Those should be in your navigation as well. A lot of people won't scroll down on a website. So if they can see all the links to those great resources they are more apt to click on them.

I only checked out the home page. But this is plenty to overload your brain with. If you do want more help, just keep posting on here for feedback. Smile

I consider all advice to be helpful. I will not take offense to anything you ladies say unless you are being down right mean and I know that there is no one like that on these forums. Smile Everyone here has been nothing but helpful and nice to me so that is why I asked you ladies for your opinions. Do you suggest I put the buttons down the side of the page? Just from some of the SEO that I have been reading up on it suggests not to put the buttons down the left side of the page because Google's spiders read the words on the left side of the page first. If I am incorrect there please correct me. Do you think my website has too much information on it? There are soooo many websites similar to mine and I want it to stand out and make people keep coming back and if you say it is confusing then that is not the way to have people stick around. I have also been noticing that people are using more animated figures in their graphics. Do you think that is the way to go or should I stick with something similar to what I currently have. As far as my opening paragraph I am thinking if I move the information about the chat room to the chat room page then that would be ok and I am sure I can eliminate some of it and get it down to a small paragraph.

Thanks Again for your input!!!

Val has already shared some great tips as well as my little "warning". We love to help but too many times all people want is a "great job". To me, if you really don't want our opinion, don't ask, right? LOL! But, it's apparent that you DO want help and you are open to some constructive critism.

Like Val said, the color scheme is great.

You had asked about the navigation. Honestly, when I first went to your site, my first initial thought was, it's backwards. Yes, I highly recommend going from left to right with your navigation to content. I'm not really sure about the spiders reading left to right (and thats something I'm going to look into now, lol) But, it is for sure that people read from left to right. So yeah, if it were me, I would put the navigation on the left.

As Val mentioned, there is too much in that first pargraph. Make your pargraphs short and sweet and easy to read.

Even down farther, in your Work From Home Newbies Information section. You might want to space those list items out. Everything just seems to "scruched up" to me.

And lastly, you might seriously consider changing your text font. The Times font is about one of the hardest on the eyes. You'll want to try something like Arial.

Let us know if you want us to look at anything else Wink You've got a great resource going there!

Take care,
Anita Razz

I am assuming this is the "footer" section. I totally agree. I would get lost in all the links. You may want to spread them around...I also agree with the other suggesstions...including the Nav and the words being a little scrunched up...maybe a ul tag or something...

I can tell you that the ladies here have GREAT advice. Anita was there for me years back when I started and I can HONESTLY say that it was hard to take sometimes...BUT...it was the BEST thing for me! So, take the advice and you will SEE the fruit of your labor! Wink

Nope, didn't even get that far. Threw enough at her without going down to the footer. lol I'm referring to the section in the middle with all her resource pages.

I remember working with you on your site. I think that was the first site that I actually reviewed by "laying it all out". You took it VERY well and did an ExCELLENT job! Look at ya now Wink

I can usually tell when the person asking wanted nothing more than a "good job" because I usually don't hear from them again, lol! But you didn't ... you took everything I said (well at least I think everything, lol) but you took it and put it to work.

Another "kind" of person I find is the person who's not willing to do anything on their own and expects me to hold their hand every single step of the way. Don't get me wrong, I don't mind helping - actually I enjoy it. But, I don't have the time to do the work for them. Know what I mean? I LOVE helping those who help themselves too Wink

Sorry! Went a little off topic there!!

Ashley, please don't take all this the wrong way ... we're NOT trying to gang up on ya here. You have a site with great potential - we're just trying to give ya a helping hand Wink

Take care,
Anita Razz
