Is Your Website Finished Yet? - Part 2
by Kara Kelso & Anita DeFrank
Last week we talked about how important it is to have your own website, and the benefits of having one. This week we'll show you how to get started.
In this order, you'll need to do the following:
1. Register a domain name
Choose your name wisely. You'll be stuck with it, and you do NOT want to have to move to a new domain name later. Think about the type of business you are involved in, and the target market you are aiming for. You may want to even do a bit of research on keywords to see if there are any in particular which would fit your new site.
2. Register hosting
You don't need much space at all, since this site will mostly be for information. Shopping carts and other "website toys" are handled on your rep site.
Hosting and domains can be purchased at:

3. Learn HTML
Regardless, you'll need to learn at least some HTML, unless you want to pay for expensive web designers. Even if you pay for the site to be done, you'll need to update it sooner or later. You want to keep your costs down, so learning basic HTML is a must if you are doing business online. Just as long as you can edit simple pages, you'll be fine.

Now why would we tell you to register your site before learning how to build the site? The answer is simple - if you have the hosting and domain waiting for you, it will give you that extra boost to actually get the site finished. We make a million excuses as to why we don't get things done, but when you are losing money by putting it off, those excuses seem to go away on their own.
So what are you waiting for? Go get your site done!
