This is a free report that'll help you become the "Go-To-Guy" OR (of course) Gal in Your Market.
I printed this report off the other day and really enjoyed it. It's a quick read and I picked up quite a few tips I'm planning on (and already started) using in my blog.
And like I said, it's free sooooo take advantage of that!
Oh and please let me know what you think about it! I'd love to discuss any ideas you might have gotten from it!

Thanks for the link, Anita. I'm printing out a copy now, so I can read it later this evening. I'll be sure to comment tomorrow. _________________ Sue

This is a good report.
I especially liked the part where Alice says, "To be an "expert" doesn't mean you have to know more than anyone else on the subject. It just means that you know enough that your target audience comes to you for your perspective..."
I have been in the mindset (and it's been holding me back) that I might not have enough to say OR that the info I provide might not be from an 'expert' point of view. So now, I have to get over that and just do it.
Also, I like the part where she mentions that short is good. I have come across a few weight loss/fitness blogs where the posts are extremely long and I just don't have the time or patience to read them to the end. I surely don't want others to think that way about me so I now know that I need to keep it short and sweet the majority of the time.

Oh Angie - you hit on some of my favorite parts!
| Quote: | | I have been in the mindset (and it's been holding me back) that I might not have enough to say OR that the info I provide might not be from an 'expert' point of view. So now, I have to get over that and just do it. |
And you're a perfect example of why I liked to see this part. You're one of the people I would consider this way You hit the nail on the head. You're a lot more knowledgable in your field than what you think you are.
I hope you don't mind me "picking on you" here a bit but ... since I KNOW you do this and YOU brought it up We're going to use you as an example....
To me ... you ARE an expert in your field. You're much more knowledgable than I when it comes to weight loss, being fit, eating healthier - the whole nine yards. Why? Because it's more than obvious that it's now your new lifestyle and well, look at what you've accomplished! When I want to know about these things ... I'm going to come to you because - you are living proof.
And no worries - you're by no means anywhere near the only one. I've seen many people do the exact same thing. Hopefully this report will help you break out of that
For me ... I don't mean to come off as an "expert" - simply because I have a hard time "tooting my own horn". But, I don't allow this to keep me from sharing the knowledge that I do have. I actually enjoy it. What I do is just share what I know - well instead of describing it as what I know - it's what works for me. Of course everything that works for me doesn't always work for you - but, it's sure worth giving it a try.
That said .. that's why often people come to me for advice. I openly give it already and apparently I must appear to be approachable. (Which is GOOD - I wanna be seen this way.)
Okay, here ya go ... we'll pick on someone new ... Let's pick on Shelly here for a moment. To me, Shelly is my "recipe expert". I know if I need something new to cook - I go to Shelly. Why? Because she's freely and openly shared recipes left and right. AND oh ... here's a little tip too. When Shelly shares her recipes ... alot of times, she doesn't just share the recipe she's used right out of the book ... she ADDS her own thoughts, alterations etc.
So, just because you learned something somewhere else ... don't worry about it. You learned it ... you tried it and it worked for you. Now share it. AND if you can ... add your own little personal touch
Sooo ... for those of you that have a problem considering yourself and "expert". Maybe we could call you
Knowledgeable From Experience
OR
Knowledgeable With Experience
How's that strike ya?
| Quote: | | Also, I like the part where she mentions that short is good. | I actually started testing this before I read the report - simply because I noticed a difference. You know me - miss rambler (well, just look at this post already, lol) And I tend to do this with my blog posts from time to time.
Guess what I've started to notice? I've noticed that my short and sweet blog posts seem to get more reponse (ie: comments).
Yes, this could mean that these particular shorter posts are ones that people are more interested in which in turn encourages the comments.
However, I think it's more like what you just said ...
| Quote: | | I have come across a few weight loss/fitness blogs where the posts are extremely long and I just don't have the time or patience to read them to the end. |
We're ALL busy! Present party included. I know I tend to shy away from longer posts - even with some of my favorite blogs.
This would be another reason why it's super-important to write a very compelling title. Even if it IS a really long post - if you've really grabbed my attention with your title - there's a good chance I'm going to try to take the time to read it.
I read something just today from Jimmy D. Brown (who I am LOVING when it comes to list building).
In what I was reading, he was actually talking about the importance of writing a very compelling article title. But, it goes hand in hand.
He said something along the lines that we'll spend a half hour to an hour working on writing this great article. Then we get to the title and we slap something down in less than five minutes.
I'm VERY guilty of this - very! Even though he was talking about articles ... it goes the same with blog posts.
If we don't catch our reader's attention with the title. What good is that wonderful article?
Some definite food for thought!
Great discussion! I look forward to hearing from others too!!
Take care,
