|
|
Hello
I hope someone can help me.
I need some advice about what I think is called the Google title bar.
When I search on Google using my search term the title bar reads;
"gold leaf - Home
The words "gold leaf" were taken from the home page of the site and thats ok.
But the problem I am having lies in how to change the word "Home". The title bar is very important and I want to add a few words to make it more attractive.
I want the index page to be known as "Home" within the site and to appear on the site menu as "Home".
How can I do this?
How can I lose the word home in the title bar and add a few words of my own, without losing the word home on my site menu.
Sorry, for me this is pushing back the envelope, I hope I am making sense.
Thank you for any help.
Regards

In your html code you will see a tag and it should read <title>Gold leaf-Home</title> Just change that to whatever you would like the title to read instead. It's one of the nice easy one's to change. lol
Oh and this should be towards the top of your page as well, so you shouldn't have to scroll super far to find it. If you have any metatags in your code they are generally in the same place. _________________ Val

Hello
Thank you for the reply.
I am using xsite pro and when I view the source code I can see no mention
of <title>Gold leaf-Home</title>
I just isn't there?

Well I never did get around very well when I had xsitepro. Hopefully someone else can come along and help you with that program. Sorry, but if it doesn't have standard code then you will have to look in the xsite manual or forums for specific answers.
I know a few ladies on here do use it a lot, so hopefully they will come across this thread. _________________ Val

Hello
I have solved the problem.
In a dark corner of xsite pro I found out how to edit the title tag without it affecting the word "Home" on my nav menu.
I didn't have a lot of experience with regard web building software, I used front page first but found it limiting perhaps due to my limited knowledge
I then tried Dreamweaver, I always thought what a great title it was for what it did, but it was way to complicated for me to get around.
What sold me on xsite was the ability it had for helping you to do some decent on page optimisation, I say decent, I am not a promoter of xsite, but we do have some sort of page rank on google due mainly I feel to the decent on page optimisation.
Of course if you were a baby bought up on SEO you would know this
But I found the software dovetailed nicely into what I did know.
We are in fact on page 7, lot of work to do it seems to me.
Thank you.

This is why there are so many programs out there. I'm proficient in my frontpage, so xsitepro was just a new learning curve and I didn't like taking the time to learn.
Course now there is no frontpage and I don't like the new one they came out with. I'm stuck with hand coding and using wordpress for all my sitebuilding now.
I know a lot of people that are very happy with xsite. Glad you found how to change the title. Please feel free to go up and introduce yourself to the boards. _________________ Val
