Okay.... so I have been lurking here and all over the place trying to learn learn learn as much as I can. I have a few websites currently but just have them directed to another site. I have one that I need to build and want to do my own graphics. (I have been reading my "dummies" books trying to learn web site design and all that jazz) I see a lot of people use Paint Shop Pro but when I do a search for it, it comes up with all sorts of PSP XI and other things. I am curious as to which one it is y'all are using. I hope y'all are ready for a newbie cause I have LOTS of questions and y'all seem like a pretty friendly bunch as compared to other boards. Looking forward to learning...

Hi Jennifer,
Please do jump into the intro forum and introduce yourself.
But that said, welcome! I am a graphics moron and am not much help. As of right now i jump up and down in excitement if I can get my web title on a banner within an hour. I know there are a lot of other great graphics people on here and i hope they jump in.
I use photoshop elements. PSP is photoshop pro Fireworks is a part of dreamweaver I believe and highly liked if you still have to buy a program.
Hope you get lots more help quickly. _________________ Val

Welcome! Do you want to draw your own graphics or do you want photo editing?
I've been using Paint Shop Pro and Corel for a lot of years. Corel actually bought out Jasc (the company that originally created PSP) a few years ago.
This is why you see Corel and PSP under the same name website today.
I use a very old version of PSP that is also a draw / photo editing program and it serves my needs.
What Corel has essentially done is keep their Corel Draw program as their primary digital drawing program and turn PSP into more of a photo editing software.
Which one to buy depends on what you want to learn and do. They all have free trial versions, so you can try them out so you can see which will work best for you.
Here's the main site with the trial version links.

I am just beginning and want to learn. I had someone from another board do my logo design for my previous website and for my ebay store and she said she did it in Paint Shop Pro X2. She had to move it to Photoshop once because it wasnt doing right or something.
I'm not really familiar with any of them so not sure which one I am trying to go with. I have downloaded the trial of Photoshop CS3 I think but when I opened it I was like OMG LOL so.... that being said, not sure which one is best for a beginner.
Suggestions are VERY welcomed |

Hi again.
Well, to be honest, none of them are very "newbie-oriented". They are pretty intense graphics programs.
I started in Microsoft "Picture It" years ago and worked my way up to PSP and still wouldn't consider myself an advanced user.
If you want to learn to draw digitally, I would also do a google search on "PSP online tutorials"
This may help:
http://www.google.com/searchhl=en&q=paint+shop+pro+online+tutorials
but this one is really good:

Are you looking to draw graphics just for your own personal websites or do you want to learn to draw to offer graphics to sell?
If the former, then I would suggest looking into a program like The Logo Creator.
They have several different types of programs to choose from depending on what you need and make it really simple to create very professional looking headers and graphics for your sites.
Actually, there are even some graphic designers that use The Logo Creator to create logos for other webmasters.

I appreciate you posting back so quick!
I want to start off learning how to do them just for my websites until I get the hang of it. I have a creative imagination and feel it is time to put that to work. After a while I would love to be able to create them to sell for profit.
Thanks for all your help!
