Why You Need a List

The Summer Balancing Act
With only a few weeks left of school, you may already be thinking of ways to balance home and work. So many of us have gotten use to "working while the kids are in school" that summer can be a huge challenge.
While we want to spend all summer with our kids and take several months off right along with them, our business is important and can't be pushed aside. Yes, family comes first, but business should always be second.
Tricia from www.wahmstudy.com writes:
"In eight years of working from home (and with two little girls now), I have tried every trick in the book to balance it all!
This summer, I am balancing the time itself. Of the 8 weeks of summer, the kids will be with me part of the time and doing other fun things part of the time. One week will be spent camping with their grandparents. Two weeks will be spent at a crafty summer camp down the street from our house. Interspersed in all of those weeks will be the weeks completely with me. But during those weeks we will have our babysitter come over X hours a week and teach the kids how to swim. So I can combine some babysitting time with the lessons themselves and save myself travel time.
It will be juggling act no doubt! I already subscribed to Highlights and puzzle magazines and picked up various workbooks, flashcards, and crafts."
These are excellent ideas which can be easily used by a lot of moms in business. The real key here is balance, pure and simple. Set goals for the summer you want to accomplish, and use your free time to enjoy the kids.
Another idea is to plan special trips around your schedule or at least once a week, and try to sneak in at least "checking email" on those special days. You can also chose to "work overtime" on certain days so you can spend full days with the kids (for example, Monday you work the entire day, then take Tuesday completely off).
Since this is one of those subjects that seems to be ongoing, you can leave your comments (or read ones posted) here:

Enjoy your summer!
