New Blogger - advice?

Hello everyone, I am new to this website and would like to ask your advice. I just started a blog & am wondering what are the best ways of 'inviting' people to check it out and register to receive it? I would also be interested in ideas on getting people to respond (& purchase/book) to emailed newsletters & blog articles.

I have noticed that the links all work - just can't figure out how to send invitations to leads that I have (I don't want to spam them however) and can't figure out how to find out how 'hits' I'm getting, etc.

Hi,

You can add an email address form on your blog for people who are interested in receiving your newsletter. You can also sign up for Feedburner http://www.feedburner.com so people can receive your new blog posts by RSS or if you click on Layout and then click Add A Gadget or Add Page Element on the side bar, you add different widgets to your blog.

Also create a signature here on the forum with your links.

One thing that has upped my readership is joining Twitter. Then I have a plugin (WordPress) that sends a tweet every time I post a new blog. When I first joined Twitter I started following the person who told me about it, then I went through her followers and started following every body on her list that I knew. Usually when you follow someone, they will follow you back. Especially if they know you or know several of the people on your follow list.

Shannon - how did you get a plug in - I did set up a separate page & put something on my page that shows what I've said sent out invitations to invite people to sign up for Twitter. I would love to have a way to send out a tweet.

Tina, you won't be able to use plugins for wordpress because you are on the .com version. You need to have your own hosting to be able to upload plugins.
