Shelly had started a great post to list some ideas for Summer Activities for Kids. While I was thinking of some ideas for activities, I also thought about one cool thing most kids love - Penpals!

I did a search online for penpal websites but I do worry about things like that - you just never know what you may end up with. Plus many of them charge. So, I was thinking ... why don't we start our own little penpal club?

For added security, we can exchange the basics here on the boards such as:

Boy or Girl: Boy
Age: 8
Interests: Spiderman & Batman
Location: Pennsylvania
Contact: Send me a private message here on the boards or email me at: MyName @ MyEmailAddressHere.com (Remove Spaces)

(I personally recommend putting the spaces in the email to prevent spam bots from picking it up.)

Then we can exchange more personal things via private message or email such as name, mailing address and/or email address.

I was thinking that they could be penpals via both written letters and/or emails. For me personally, it'd be a great way to teach my kids both letter writing and email writing/internet skills.

And why do the kids have to have all the fun? Mom's we can pick up a penpal too! But mom's let's remember where penpals came from! Sure, it saves time and even postage money to send an email but ... don't forget to send a real letter from time to time too!

(I'm saying this because of me too! ROFL! I'd be the first one to rely on the email system more!! LOL!)

Please feel to invite others you know personally to join us. But, Please Do Not Send Out:
Mass emails, message board posts, blog / twitter posts, etc.

The more the merrier of course and more of a variety we will get with more people. However, the idea of doing something more privately here on the boards is to keep things a bit more on the safer side. If you invite people you know on a more personal level (even if it is online) then it will still stay safer. Make sense?

Some things our children (or moms) might want to consider exchanging:

    * Pictures - Past & Present - Send both a baby picture and a current one.

    * State/Country/City Postcards

    * Recipes - Send a recipe for a local favorite

    * Gifts - Let's keep this affordable! Send small inexpensive gifts. If you can find something that has to do with your state/country/city - that would be best. For example, my daughter and I collect spoons from different areas and my husband collects shot glasses.

    * Exchange Stickers - Maybe your penpal loves Spidey! Send him some spiderman stickers.

    * Handmade Gifts - Bookmarks, scrapbook pages, coloring pages, etc.

    * Cool Stationary - Purchase some inexpensive "cool looking" stationary for your child to send his/her letters on. Maybe your penpal's favorite color is purple.

    * Virtual Gifts - This can be a lot of fun and at no cost! Send your penpal a virtual gift such as teddy bears, hugs, puppies, kittens dolls, mail a meal, tools, cars, beanie babies, candy, wedgies or hey, send your penpal on a virtual vacation! (Check out the website above.)

Get creative and have fun with it!

This is a bit of a work in progress so if anyone has any other ideas of things to send or information we should share here on the boards to help create the best match for our children, please feel free to say something!!

Take care,
Anita Razz

I love this idea Anita! I'll just talk to my kids first and see if either of them want to participate.

Opportunities these days are looking for investments at any level. A simple loan can be taken to finance the money for the investment. One of the better options out there is stock trading, the margins are high and the business is successful. Another one is real estate investment, for which one can get a mortgage refinance services to get a lower interest rate loan. Other small opportunities are providing insurances like cheap car insurance or supplying services in the finance sector like merchant credit services.
